India's ranking in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index has fallen to 161 out of 180 countries, according to a report by Reporters Without Borders. This is a decrease from last year's ranking of 150. Pakistan, on the other hand, has improved its ranking to 150 from last year's 157. The top three positions in press freedom are held by Norway, Ireland, and Denmark, while Vietnam, China, and North Korea have the worst rankings. The World Press Freedom Index compares the level of press freedom enjoyed by journalists and media in 180 countries and territories in the previous calendar year.
