Protech Group, a company owned by Minister Ashok Singhal's family, is allegedly building high-rises in violation of the law, says AAP

The illegal construction of a 22-story building in the Guwahati neighbourhood of Anil Nagar by Protech Group, which is purportedly controlled by Ashok Singhal's family, has been brought to the governor's attention by the Assam chapter of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The AAP claims that the construction is endangering the area's greater public interest and blatantly flouting the requirements for construction clearance.

According to the memorandum, the building's construction broke the norms and bylaws of the GMDA, GMC, and ASDMA, and such high-rise structures are not permitted in the area due to the approach road's width.

A narrow steel bridge connecting the construction site, which did not previously exist, was also allegedly used, and Tarun Nagar was shown as the construction site to conceal the actual location.

According to the AAP, the project in question was first started by a different constructor with a small number of floors, and following Protech Group's arrival, additional floors were added without considering the capacity of the foundation, which could result in disaster in the event of an earthquake.

The AAP also claimed that unauthorised structures are annoying the city and that the area is already plagued by a problem with artificial flooding.

The message urged that building activities stop right now and that the incompetent officials be punished.

Given that Ashok Singhal was formerly the chairman of the GMDA and is currently the minister of the Guwahati Development Department, it also requested the Governor's assistance as the legal ruler of the state.
